Opportunities for hours will be emailed to the members of NHS as we are made aware of them. If you are applying in the fall, you cannot count those hours until the semester is over. Peer collaboration, freshman mentor, and office worker count as 10 hours of service per semester. Preferably, the total of 30 service hours will include school and community service activities. If chosen and inducted into NHS, an additional 30 hours of service are required and must be completed by April 15 of the graduating year in order to be recognized at graduation. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since their beginnings in 1921.
